The OEA Exec thought you might like to have a quick update on progress. Since our AGM in April we have:-
(1) Agreed 25th February 2024 as the date for a festival day of rugby between School and OERFC age-group teams. The OEA will sponsor this event.
(2) Provided a question for the forthcoming Alumni questionnaire that will bring the OEA to the attention of the wider OE Alumni community that are currently not members of the OEA.
(3) Offered a number of subjects to the school as topics for the first OEA Annual lecture –and are awaiting their response as to their preferred topic.
(4) Offered the knowledge and skills of OEA volunteers for careers advice to the School, and are awaiting feedback as to how they would like to utilise this offer.
(5) Gained agreement from the School to hold an OEA / Alumni dinner at the School, and are in the process of agreeing a date in 2024.
(6) Started to flesh out the details of our enhanced programme of social events for 2024 to complement the existing series of quarterly OE luncheon club meetings.
(7) Made a donation of £2000 to the School’s Primary Ambitions charity (through which they provide coaching and development opportunities to pupils from primary schools in SW London).
(8) Agreed to make a donation of £1000 to OE Niclas Baker towards his (unfunded) costs for training for selection to represent Great Britain in the 400 metres at the Paris Olympics.
(9) Invested £200,000 in two savings accounts (£100k in each) until the money is required for agreed OEA purposes, for example supporting affiliated sports clubs or events such as those detailed above.
(10) Identified four younger OEs who have agreed to be candidates to join the ageing OEA Exec – an important step not only in taking the OEA forward organisationally, but also building links to more recent school leavers.
(11) Started specifying and building an OEA website to facilitate improved communication with OEA members and prospective members.
We will of course provide any new and additional information at the 2024 AGM.
Kind regards.
The OEA Executive Team of John, Mike, Stuart, Andy B, Andy R and Tim
